Gerald Harwick spent his twenties driving for other people's companies. By 1993, he had enough saved, enough experience, and enough of being told how freight should be moved. He bought a single flatbed, registered Harwick Transport Inc. in Red Deer, Alberta, and started hauling for local construction and oilfield outfits.
The first year was lean. The second year, Gerald brought on two drivers. By 1999, Harwick Transport had eight trucks and contracts with three of central Alberta's busiest construction outfits. Growth was never the goal β reliability was. The business grew because clients trusted it.
Gerald's son Dale joined the operation in 2008 after studying logistics at Red Deer Polytechnic. In 2018, Gerald stepped back and passed the company to Dale. The fleet expanded. Lanes extended into Saskatchewan. But the core β honest dispatch, experienced drivers, accountability on every load β has never changed.
Today, Harwick Transport operates a mixed fleet of flatbeds, dry vans, and hopper trailers out of our Red Deer yard, serving agricultural, oilfield, and industrial clients across Alberta and Saskatchewan. Still family-owned. Still answering the phone.
