Who We Are
A FAMILY
BUSINESS.
AN INDUSTRY
STANDARD.

Harwick Transport was founded in 1993 by Gerald Harwick out of Red Deer, Alberta. One flatbed, a handshake philosophy, and a reputation for showing up. That's still what drives us today.

Now led by Dale Harwick, Gerald's son, we remain fully family-owned. Every load carries our name β€” no outsourcing, no runaround. Just people who know the road.

Our Story

THIRTY YEARS
ON THE ROAD.

From one flatbed and a handshake to one of Red Deer's most trusted carriers β€” this is how Harwick Transport was built.

Founded 1993
THE HARWICK STORY

Gerald Harwick spent his twenties driving for other people's companies. By 1993, he had enough saved, enough experience, and enough of being told how freight should be moved. He bought a single flatbed, registered Harwick Transport Inc. in Red Deer, Alberta, and started hauling for local construction and oilfield outfits.

The first year was lean. The second year, Gerald brought on two drivers. By 1999, Harwick Transport had eight trucks and contracts with three of central Alberta's busiest construction outfits. Growth was never the goal β€” reliability was. The business grew because clients trusted it.

Gerald's son Dale joined the operation in 2008 after studying logistics at Red Deer Polytechnic. In 2018, Gerald stepped back and passed the company to Dale. The fleet expanded. Lanes extended into Saskatchewan. But the core β€” honest dispatch, experienced drivers, accountability on every load β€” has never changed.

Today, Harwick Transport operates a mixed fleet of flatbeds, dry vans, and hopper trailers out of our Red Deer yard, serving agricultural, oilfield, and industrial clients across Alberta and Saskatchewan. Still family-owned. Still answering the phone.

What We Do

FREIGHT SOLUTIONS
FOR INDUSTRY.

Flatbed, dry van, agricultural, time-critical, and cross-province freight β€” the equipment, experience, and reliability your operation requires.

01

Flatbed Transport

Harwick's flatbed division moves oversized and heavy industrial loads that enclosed trailers simply can't. Oilfield equipment, structural steel, heavy machinery, lumber, and oversize industrial freight β€” we have the decks and the drivers to move it safely and legally.

All loads are properly tarped, strapped, and chained to provincial oversize regulations. Our drivers are load-securement certified. We handle permits in-house for oversize and overweight moves across Alberta and Saskatchewan.

02

Dry Van

Harwick's dry van fleet handles enclosed freight that needs protection from the elements. General merchandise, packaged goods, industrial supplies, and temperature-stable cargo β€” our 53' vans keep loads clean, dry, and on schedule.

We offer both full truckload (FTL) and less-than-truckload (LTL) dry van service across the Calgary–Edmonton corridor and into Saskatchewan. Dock-to-dock pickup and delivery available.

03

Agricultural Haul

Harwick runs hopper trailers for grain, canola, wheat, and bulk agricultural commodities across central Alberta and Saskatchewan. We understand harvest timelines β€” our ag fleet is available for peak-season surge capacity and year-round scheduled grain movement.

We work directly with producers, elevators, and ag co-ops. Hoppers are inspected and cleaned between loads. On-time performance where it counts most β€” when the combine doesn't stop.

Time-Critical Delivery

When a jobsite is shut down waiting on a part, or a production line can't wait until Monday β€” Harwick's time-critical team moves freight on your schedule, not ours. We maintain dedicated capacity for urgent moves across Alberta and Saskatchewan.

Direct dispatch, no relay, driver stays with the load. Available 24/7 for emergency and same-day freight. We've built our reputation on getting there when it matters most.

Cross-Province Runs

Harwick runs scheduled and on-demand lanes across the Calgary–Edmonton corridor and into Saskatchewan. Whether it's a weekly dedicated lane or a one-time move from Red Deer to Lloydminster β€” we have the capacity and the coverage to handle it.

Reliable transit times, real-time tracking, and a single point of contact for every load. We know the corridors because we've been running them for over 30 years.

Freight Management

For shippers with ongoing volume, Harwick offers dedicated freight management β€” a single account rep, priority capacity allocation, consolidated billing, and monthly performance reporting. We become an extension of your logistics team.

Ideal for manufacturers, distributors, and industrial shippers with regular Alberta or Saskatchewan freight needs. Custom reporting and KPI tracking available on request.
